A public talk by historian Ed MacDonald on the new exhibition, The Summer Trade: A History of Tourism on Prince Edward Island, will be presented at Confederation Centre Art Gallery on Thursday, July 7 at 7pm. The exhibition chronicles 150 years of tourism on PEI and includes artifacts from the PEI Museum Collection as well as several private collections.
Don’t miss the ship models or the original doors from the MV Abegweit (the ice-breaking car ferry which operated on the Bordon, PEI to Cape Tormentine, NB crossing); or a page from L.M. Montgomery’s handwritten novel manuscript for Anne of Green Gables. Ed MacDonald teaches in the history department at UPEI and co-curated The Summer Trade exhibition with Alan MacEachern. They also co-authored a new book of the same title which also available to purchase in the Art Gallery.

What are Relaxed Performances?
Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.
These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
