The Centre for All Canadians

Second Show Added for ‘An Evening with Aaron Hastelow and Friends’

Beloved Islander is up close at The Mack January 11 and 12; special guests include Tara MacLean and Alicia Toner

Island son and Charlottetown Festival favourite, Aaron Hastelow is home for a visit and putting on a must-see affair. Sponsored by Richardson Associates (1993) Limited, this intimate concert will include stirring performances of pop, rock, ballads, duets, and more.

After multiple years selling out this annual cabaret, Aaron has planned the 2019 edition for The Mack, on Friday, January 11 at 7:30 p.m. Now, with tickets virtually sold out, Confederation Centre has added a second night for the show, Saturday January 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Alicia Toner, singer-songwriter and Charlottetown Festival mainstay.

The Charlottetown native welcomes special guests Alicia Toner, a Music PEI Award-winner for her debut album I Learned the Hard Way, and a multi-year Charlottetown Festival veteran from Million Dollar Quartet, Spoon River, Evangeline, and more. Toner is also releasing a brand new single ‘Dangerous Home’ on January 11. Aaron and Alicia will come together to perform ‘Shallow’ from the recent Hollywood hit, A Star is Born.

Aaron’s other selections will include Fleetwood Mac, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, The Cranberries, Dave Matthews Band, Miley Cyrus, and more. He will also collaborate with special guest and fellow Islander, Tara MacLean, an award-winning singer-songwriter and star of her own show, Atlantic Blue. Additionally, he will welcome a guest band of all-star musicians, including Craig Fair (recent music director for The Charlottetown Festival), Andrew Murray, Jon Matthews, and Trevor Grant.

Aaron and Alicia together as Jesus and Judas in 2018’s ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ at The Charlottetown Festival.

In 2017, Aaron released his self-titled debut album, recorded at the Sound Mill Recording Studio, which garnered three Music PEI Award nominations and an official showcase. After studying musical theatre at Sheridan, Aaron has appeared in theatre festivals across the country, including Vancouver Opera, Neptune, Aquarius, and three seasons at Shaw Festival.

Aaron recently starred as the lead of Jesus Christ Superstar at Confederation Centre and will lead again as Hamlet in Kronborg—The Hamlet Rock Musical and as Sky in Mamma Mia! at the 2019 Festival. Other previous local credits include Ring of Fire and two seasons as Gilbert Blythe in Anne of Green Gables—The Musical™.

The star of next summer’s Charlottetown Festival production ‘Atlantic Blue’, Tara MacLean will make a guest appearance at Aaron’s cabaret.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
