Mavor’s Returns with Summer Hours and New Menu

Confederation Centre of the Arts restaurant going green, ending use of plastics

(Charlottetown, P.E.) – With summer just around the bend, Confederation Centre of the Arts is pleased to announce a host of new changes at Mavor’s. The flagship restaurant—named to honour Mavor Moore, first artistic director of The Charlottetown Festival—is rolling out full summer hours, a new menu, a green-friendly take-out option, and more.

Beginning this Tuesday, May 21, Mavor’s will be open Monday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday.

As of June 26, the hours will broaden to Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. as the peak season of The Charlottetown Festival begins. Patrons can also count on Mavor’s outdoor courtyard to be back in full-swing, equally a perfect setting for lunch or for a late-night glass of wine under the stars.

The restaurant has long been a mainstay for those seeking pre and post-show meals, and is well-known for its popular half-price appetizers menu. Half-price apps are back offered from 9 to 11 p.m. each night, along with a new cold ‘Mavor’s-2-Go’ menu.

Available over lunch-time and pre-show, this menu is ideal for those on the go, with wraps, salads, lobster rolls, and other light fare. This quick menu will be available via concessions at the hostess stand and outside the amphitheatre during Young Company performances all summer.

Mavor’s is also switching to green-friendly compostable materials for all of its in-house and take-out use. This means corn starch or sugar cane cups, lids, wooden stir sticks, paper containers, recyclable napkins, and more.

“Confederation Centre of the Arts is thrilled to become a more sustainable and environmentally responsible operation, and Mavor’s is leading the way with this renewal,” remarks Steve Bellamy, CEO.

He continues, “People also might not realize that 100% of the proceeds generated at our restaurant go right back into supporting live entertainment, visual arts, and arts education, which benefits the entire community. We invite all Islanders and tourists alike to include Mavor’s in their Centre experience.”

Mavor’s new summer menu and signature summer cocktails will be available as of May 21. Visit confederationcentre.com/mavors/ for more information.

Photo cutline: One of Charlottetown’s best-kept secrets is the intimate outdoor courtyard at Mavor’s, tucked deep within the sprawling Confederation Centre. Mavor’s Restaurant has stylish indoor and outdoor seating and serves as a haven for those seeking a quick lunch, a pre-show glass of wine, or late night hangs with friends (submitted).

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
