Charlottetown Festival company member heading to West End

– Islander Jessica Gallant to join cast of I’m Every Woman –

August 24, 2023 – After performing in MAGGIE and I’m Every Woman this summer, Charlottetown Festival company member Nicola-Dawn Brook is making a move to London’s West End. Her final performance will be on August 26, after which she will exit the productions to pursue an exciting opportunity in the United Kingdom this fall.

“Nicola-Dawn is an extraordinary talent who elevates every production she is in,” says Adam Brazier, artistic director of performing arts at Confederation Centre of the Arts. “We are sad to see her go, but this only confirms the caliber of artists performing at the Festival. They are in-demand on stages around the world.”

Nicola-Dawn Brook has performed in many Festival productions over the years, including Anne of Green Gables–The Musical™, Bittergirl–The Musical, and Mamma Mia!

“I have enjoyed four seasons at The Charlottetown Festival and each time has been so special to me,” she says. “Prince Edward Island is a beautiful place to be, and I feel honoured to have been a part of many fantastic productions at Confederation Centre of the Arts.”

During the final week of performances for MAGGIE, the role of Betty will be played by understudy Alyssa LeClair.

Islander Jessica Gallant will join the cast of I’m Every Woman for performances starting August 28. Gallant has a long history with The Charlottetown Festival – she was a member of the Young Company and continued to perform at the Festival for six seasons. Most notably, she played Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables–The Musical™.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jessica back to the Festival,” says Brazier. “She is an exceptional talent who will deliver powerhouse vocals in I’m Every Woman.”

“I’m Every Woman is an incredibly fun and high-energy show to step into, and I am thrilled to be back at the Festival joining this stellar cast,” adds Gallant.

The Charlottetown Festival continues through September 23. For more information and tickets, visit confederationcentre.com.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
