Confederation Centre Welcomes Andrea Surich To Theatre Department
-Surich assumes General Manager position following leadership roles with Watermark Theatre, Grand Theatre, and the Stratford Festival-
CEO Steve Bellamy and Confederation Centre of the Arts are pleased to welcome Andrea Surich to the Senior Management group as the General Manager (GM) of Theatre. Surich joins the Centre team following half a decade as General Manager with Watermark Theatre in Rustico, P.E.I. She succeeds Dean Constable in the GM role for the Centre.
The Centre’s Board of Directors and staff extend their welcome to Andrea and wish her every success as she begins this new stage of her career.
“We are excited to welcome Andrea aboard,” offers Bellamy. “She has achieved great things for Watermark and comes to us with three decades of national leadership in theatre production. Together with [Artistic Director] Adam Brazier, Andrea will lead the ongoing growth of our Theatre Department and help explore new horizons in live and digital offerings for Confederation Centre of the Arts.”
Bellamy continues, “I would also like to recognize former GM Dean Constable, who recently moved on to new endeavours. Dean was a part of the Centre for 16 years and we are very thankful for his contributions. His dedication and many innovations have been essential to the growth of both The Charlottetown Festival and the Theatre Department.”
On Surich, Watermark Artistic Director Robert Tsonos states: “Andrea has had an incredible impact on our company and is a major reason why the theatre is in such great shape, both artistically and financially. We are going to miss her immensely but also wish her well in her new position”.
Before joining Watermark Theatre, Surich was Production Manager at the Grand Theatre in London, ON and spent years as Technical Director at the Stratford Festival. She joined the leadership of Watermark in 2015 and since then, the company has experienced exponential growth at the box office, launched a successful mentorship program, while delivering theatre productions every summer to critical acclaim.
Over the next few months, Surich will be sharing her time between the two organizations, facilitating a smooth transition for both arts centres.
