Confederation Centre Closed Until Further Notice

Following public health updates, Centre programming and the complex will be closed

Confederation Centre of the Arts will be closed to the public as of Tuesday December 8. This follows the Chief Public Health Office’s (CPHO) instigation of a two-week ‘circuit breaker’ approach to protocols, extending until December 21.

This closure includes the Confederation Centre Art Gallery, the Confederation Centre Public Library, The Story of Confederation, and other arts education offerings. The remaining 2020 dance umbrella classes are cancelled, and the program will resume in the new year.

The Centre’s two scheduled holiday concerts, Comfort & Joy (Dec. 20) and The East Pointers (part of Capital New Year, Dec. 30-31) are tentative at this time, pending updates from CPHO. Depending on the unfolding public health situation, one or both of these concerts may proceed and patrons are asked to hold on to their tickets and watch confederationcentre.com and Centre social media for updates in the next week.

Patrons with ticketing questions can contact the Centre’s box office via email, [email protected]. All Confederation Centre staff are still available via email and phone and are either working from home or safely on-site.

Patrons are also reminded that year-end giving is still available at this time, with options to give online at confederationcentre.com/donate or via mail: 145 Richmond Street, Charlottetown, PE, C1A1J1. End-of-year receipts for taxation must be received by December 31, 2020.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
