August 23, 2022 – Four new board members were appointed to the national board of directors at Confederation Centre of the Arts during the annual general meeting in July.

“Confederation Centre of the Arts is so pleased to welcome these four outstanding individuals to the Board of Directors,” says CEO Steve Bellamy. “As we embark on an exciting period of growth, we are committed to our national role as a place of discourse and interpretation of identity in Canada, and as such it is critical that the governing voices for the Centre represent the diverse perspectives of Canada.”

Board Chair Bob Sear adds, “Each of these new directors comes to us with a wealth of experience on local and national boards, varied business and industry experience, and a shared love of arts and culture. We are very pleased to welcome them to Confederation Centre of the Arts.”

Heather Davidson (Vancouver, BC) is a landscape architect with her own practice, specializing in natural materials playgrounds and residential design. Born and raised in Toronto, Heather headed for the east coast to pursue a BSc in biology at Dalhousie University, followed by a Master’s in Landscape Architecture at the University of British Columbia, where she was awarded the James Rose prize for her graduation project. She has pursued community work as a volunteer chef at the Friends for Life Society, and Canuck Place Children’s hospice, both in Vancouver. Heather is a member of the BC Society of Landscape Architects, and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects. Heather has grown up in a family with a long tradition of supporting the arts.

Rani Dhaliwal (Mississauga, ON) has provided leadership in the areas of financial services, risk management, fundraising, and more in her senior roles at Humber College. Rani has a passion for volunteering and working on issues related to health and education. She currently serves on the Ontario Internal Audit Committee and as a director of the Ontario Education Collaborative Marketplace. Rani has previously been involved with the William Osler Health System, World University Service of Canada, UNICEF Canada, and the Federation of Canadian-Brazilian Businesses. Rani has her FCPA/CMA and has been awarded FCMA. She has a BA in economics and in business administration from York University, and Chartered Director designation from McMaster University.

Jacqueline Goodwin (Cornwall, PE) is a clinical psychologist in her home province of Prince Edward Island. She completed a BA with Honours in psychology at UPEI, a MSc in clinical psychology at Memorial University (NL), a PhD in child clinical psychology at the University of Windsor (ON), and a residency at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, NS. She is the founding team lead psychologist of the INSIGHT Youth Day Treatment Program and is the current director of research innovation and education for the Division of Mental Health and Addictions within Health PEI. Jackie has consulted to multiple boards and committees, including the Premier’s Community Health Engagement Committee, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation Board, and the Canadian Psychological Association. Her early years were blessed with robust arts education which has caused lifelong passions about art galleries, classical and jazz music, and live theatre.

Hailey Zhu (Charlottetown, PE) is a commercial account manager at Royal Bank of Canada. Prior to joining RBC, Zhu was the Head of Asian Markets at McInnes Cooper law firm, which supports clients and lawyers in the Atlantic region and across Canada. Actively involved in the business community, she was named one of Atlantic Business Magazine’s 30 Under 30, and currently serves as a board director of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Athletes Village Committee for the 2023 Canada Winter Games. Hailey’s education and experience spanning two continents has shaped the person she is today with a global mindset, forward thinking, and proven leadership skills.
