How do I get to the Centre?
Confederation Centre of the Arts is located in the heart of downtown Charlottetown and is bordered by Grafton, Queen and Richmond Streets. The Box Office is located at the corner of Queen and Grafton Streets and you can also find entrances off Grafton Street’s Upper Plaza, Richmond St/Victoria Row and seasonally via the amphitheatre. Sobey Family Theatre, Studio Theatres, outdoor Amphitheatre, and Art Gallery are all located within the main complex which fills a city block. The 200-seat cabaret-style The Mack Theatre is in a separate building located at the corner of Great George and Grafton Streets.
Is Confederation Centre wheelchair accessible?
Confederation Centre is wheelchair accessible via the Queen Street entrance and the Richmond Street entrance as well as via the pedway from Confederation Court Mall.
Where can I park?
There are three parking garages located within walking distance of the theatre:
100 Pownal Street
222 Queen Street
Corner of Fitzroy and Prince Streets.
Two-hour metered parking is also available throughout downtown Charlottetown. Good news – there is no charge for street parking after 4 pm on weekdays or on weekends or statutory holidays. Patrons are reminded to allow enough time to obtain suitable parking and to pick up your tickets at the box office prior to the show. Finding parking can be particularly challenging for weekday matinee performances.
Where can I find accommodation near the Centre?
Charlottetown has an abundance of accommodation choices. Visit Tourism PEI’s website to look and book.
Do you have a Scent Free Policy?
For the comfort of guests with allergies, please do not wear fragrances in our theatres
Can I take pictures of the show?
Please leave the photography to us. The use of cameras, including cell phones or recording devices is not permitted during our shows.
Does the theatre cancel shows due to inclement weather?
Shows may be cancelled due to inclement weather. If this does occur, our regular policies regarding exchanges and refunds will be in effect. Please monitor our social media channels for updates.
How early should we arrive at the theatre?
We recommend you arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the performance. Those arriving late will wait to be seated by our staff during an appropriate break in the performance.
What is a preview performance?
Previews are theatre performances presented at the beginning of a production run that allow the director and production team to make any final changes or adjustments to the production before opening night. Previews are a great opportunity to see a production before its final rendition, and typically for a reduced ticket price. Preview performance tickets can be purchase at the box office by calling 1-800-565-0278 or anytime online at www.confederationcentre.com
Do you have any assisted hearing devices?
Sobey Family Theatre is equipped with an infra-red listening system. Receivers may be obtained from our staff on a first-come-first-served basis.
Can I bring my own food and drinks into the theatre?
All snacks and refreshments purchased on site are permitted into the theatre. For most of our performances, refreshments and snacks are available from 30 minutes prior to performance and during intermission.
Alcoholic beverages are also served at some of our performances. A maximum of two alcoholic drinks per patron are permitted at one time into the theatre. Alcoholic beverages will only be served to those 19 years of age or older and patrons may be asked to show identification.
What should I wear to a theatre performance?
We encourage our patrons to be comfortable in our theatres. There is no formal dress code but please note that we are scent-free facility for the comfort of all guests at Confederation Centre of the Arts.
Can I get a refund on my theatre tickets if I am unable to attend the performance?
We will gladly return or exchange any ticket up to the last business day PRIOR to the performance (unless otherwise noted) . Service fees are non-refundable. The ticket value, excluding service charges, will be issued as a credit to your personal Confederation Centre of the Arts account.
Ticket exchanges are subject to a $6 service fee per ticket. There are no returns or exchanges on or after the day of the performance.
Can I bring my baby or young child to the theatre?
Children under the age of 12 months do not require a ticket. Children 12 months or older require a paid ticket for all performances; however we do not recommend bringing children under the age of three to the theatre. If you are in doubt about bringing a child to our shows, please ask us before purchasing tickets. Sitting quietly for an extended period in the theatre can be challenging for small children; please be aware that if your young child creates a disturbance, you may be asked to leave the theatre.
Booster seats for children are available free of charge at the Sobey Family Theatre. They are offered on a first-come-first-served basis only, so please arrive at the theatre early and ask an usher for assistance.
