It’s Time to Sign Up for the 15th Annual Artist Trading Cards event!

-Confederation Centre Art Gallery makes call for Artist Trading Cards registrations-

(Charlottetown, P.E.I.) – The Confederation Centre Art Gallery (CCAG) is looking for artists of all ages and disciplines, professional and non-professional, to register for their upcoming summer event, Artist Trading Cards. The 15th annual trading event will be held on Thursday, August 12 at 7 p.m.

With the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, the CCAG cannot accommodate more than 39 people per event, therefore registration for Artist Trading Cards will be limited to 39 participants. However, this number does not include participants who will be mailing their cards in to the gallery. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis and those submitting are kindly asked to inform organizers if they become unable to participate in the event on site, as a waiting list will be used.

Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are miniature works of art. They can be created with any material imaginable, such as: paper, wool, wood, clay, and more. Cards can be produced in editions (a limited number of the same card), series (a set of cards with a unifying theme), or as singular originals.

The main requirement is the size: cards MUST be the same size as modern baseball cards, or 2 ½ x 3 ½ inches (6 cm x 9 cm)–small enough to fit inside standard card-collector pockets or sheets. Also, ATC’s must be self-produced. The artist’s name and contact information, as well as the card title and the edition or series number, is to be written on the back. For more information on ATCs, please click here.

This year’s registration deadline is Friday, July 9. Shortly after registration, participants will be contacted to confirm the number of cards they will need to make for the event; those who sign up will have to make as many cards as there are participants.

The ever-popular trading event will be held in Memorial Hall to allow for social distancing. Participants will be required to wear a mask. Further details on the evening’s program will be announced at a later date. Should there be a change in the local COVID-19 situation, participants will be updated as needed.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
