Celebrate International Francophonie Day with Jacques Arsenault at The Mack

-The Centre presents Jacques Arsenault and Morgan Saulnier on Sat. March 20

Confederation Centre of the Arts is proud to present an evening of songs featuring P.E.I.’s own Jacques Arsenault who will be collaborating with well-known multi-instrumentalist Morgan Saulnier. This concert will be presented at The Mack, on March 20, at 7:30 p.m., and is a celebration of International Francophonie Day and part of Rendez-vous de la francophonie.

Arsenault’s musical career began as a virtuoso accordionist on the Island before discovering his vocal talents. He holds a Bachelor of Music from UPEI and a Master of Music from the University of Alberta. He has performed throughout Canada in a wide range of repertoire, from classical and contemporary opera to musical theatre and beyond. More recently he performed at the Indian River Festival.

After living in Alberta and Ontario for many years, Arsenault and his family have recently moved back to their home province of P.E.I. Most of the program will be performed in French but Arsenault has selected a few songs in English.

“It will be a great privilege for me to be able to present a concert at The Mack,” he shares. “I have chosen songs that talk mostly about the sea, about travel, and the desire to travel. Given that the concert will take place on the first day of spring, I have also chosen a few songs to celebrate the arrival of the season.”

Add Saulnier, who will playing piano and flute alongside Arsenault, “I am so looking forward to sharing the stage with my dear friend, Jacques, in this beautifully curated program. It has been over 10 years since Jacques and I have collaborated, and I am excited to share the stage light, and to share this engaging music with the audience.”

Concert tickets can be purchased via the Confederation Centre box office by phone at 902.566.1267 or in person.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
