Traffic and Parking Advisory: Weekend of Nov. 39 to Dec. 1 at Confederation Centre

-Patrons shopping the Centre or attending Handel’s Messiah may be impacted-

Between weather events and holiday programming, this weekend will be a busy one in and around Confederation Centre of the Arts. Patrons attending various activities are advised that driving and parking around the Centre block will be limited on Sunday, December 1.

-Friday November 29-

From Fri Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. until Sun. Dec, 1 at 8 p.m., Victoria Row (aka Richmond Street, between Queen and Great George) will be closed as part of the Christmas Market. Parking will be prohibited but anyone wishing to unload instruments for Handel’s Messiah or wares for the Indigenous Market will be granted access.

-Saturday November 30-

On Nov. 30, Sobeys LIVE @ the Centre will present The East Pointers at 7:30 p.m. This show is sold out and the Homburg Theatre will be full (1,100 people). Concertgoers and patrons headed to Mavor’s or The Showcase should leave extra time, parking a few blocks away or in one of the nearby parkades.

-Sunday December 1-

This same advice is extended to: patrons attending Handel’s Messiah on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Homburg Theatre. The City of Charlottetown’s Christmas Parade takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. and will  limit parking and traffic flow. Streets between Great George and West Street will be closed from 4 to 7 p.m. (or until the conclusion of the event).

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
