The Mawson Rehearsal Hall is a spacious open studio located backstage at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. The Mawson is used for arts education programming including dance classes, performing arts camps, workshops and in-studio presentations. As the name implies, this space is used by performers as a warm-up and rehearsal area in preparation for performances on the Sobey Family Theatre. There are cubbies located outside the studio for students and artists to store their belongings, and inside the Mawson is equipped with ballet barres, front mirrored wall, seamless Marley dance floor, piano and Bluetooth speaker.
This rehearsal studio is named in honour of the late Elizabeth Mawson, who performed the role of Marilla in the Charlottetown Festival for nearly 30 years.

What are Relaxed Performances?
Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.
These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
